Gerry Weatherhead Photography

After a career that spans engineering precision and creative observation, Gerry Weatherhead’s story is one shaped by travel, service, and a lifelong eye for detail.

Gerry spent twelve years as an aircraft engineer with the Royal Air Force, a role that took him across the UK, Europe, and much of the wider world over more than three decades. Although he once imagined retiring to the south coast, time spent stationed in Rutland left a deeper impression. In the end, it was Rutland that called him home, and he is now happily settled back into village life.

Photography has been a constant thread throughout this journey. Over the years, Gerry has photographed weddings filled with emotion, birthday celebrations bursting with character, and the simple formality of passport portraits. Each commission brought its own lessons in patience, trust, and storytelling, and he remains genuinely grateful to everyone who invited him to record their personal milestones.

Today, Gerry has stepped away from private event work to focus fully on the subjects that inspire him most. His attention is now drawn to the quiet drama of landscapes at dawn, the humour and beauty found in everyday moments, and the rich stories that emerge from his long association with aviation.

Whether wandering the Rutland countryside, travelling further afield, or reflecting on years spent around aircraft, his aim is always the same: to create images that celebrate beauty, spectacle, and history with warmth and honesty.

Rutland Social Media are proud to say that Gerry is their first choice whenever they need a photographer — a reflection not only of his technical skill, but of his eye, experience, and reliability.

Readers are warmly invited to explore Gerry’s collection of photographs and, if an image resonates, consider welcoming it into their own home. Every photograph is available as a print or canvas, from small keepsakes to striking statement pieces — each one carrying a little of the wonder felt at the moment the shutter was pressed.
